Foodbank NSW & ACT recently received a generous $6,306.74 donation from Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM). ADM, one of the world’s largest agricultural processors and food ingredient providers, raised the money through a team fundraising walk in Sydney.
ADM Account Manager and event organiser Fabian Barcelo said ADM encourages community giving through its ADM Cares program, a social investment program that strives to make a positive difference in many of the communities where our 33,000 colleagues live and work.
“We are all about feeding the planet and we wanted to align ourselves with a charity that focused on feeding those less fortunate than most. Upon looking at the mission and values of Foodbank, we decided to make them our charitable partner.”
“Through doing the walk, our team has learnt that issue of hunger is greater than one we would have thought. There is a larger slice of the Australian population that is the working poor, using wages to pay bills but not enough to provide three daily meals for themselves or their families. More attention to this growing problem is needed,” shared Fabian.
Gerry Andersen, CEO of Foodbank NSW & ACT, was grateful for ADM’s fundraising efforts, noting the valuable contribution towards the Foodbank Key Staples Program, which sources essential food items that don’t come via traditional rescue channels.
“Without the support of the Australian food industry, and the efforts of companies like ADM, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do,” he said.
The proceeds from the fundraising walk have provided over 12, 613 meals to Australians in need throughout NSW & ACT.
