Team Foodbank Changed Anastacia’s Life

EDM 3It’s hard to believe that in our lucky country, almost 1 million kids are going to school hungry. Unfortunately, 11 year old Anastacia was one of these kids.

Life at home wasn’t easy for Anastacia. Her mum Connie has breast cancer and at the time, was recovering from a double mastectomy, so as you can imagine, with all the bills and treatment, they struggled to put food on the table.

“If I don’t have breakfast, I feel tired and weak,” Anastacia said. “After I’ve eaten at the Breakfast Club, I feel good. I don’t feel tired. I feel like I have a lot of energy and I can finish the whole day off nice and good.”

With the support of our amazing #TeamFoodbank participants from The Sun-Herald City2Surf presented by Westpac in 2017, Foodbank was able to provide 57,000 breakfasts to School Breakfast Programs across NSW & the ACT, including Anastasia’s.

Bronwyn, the School Principal, witnessed a classroom revolution thanks to the support of #TeamFoodbank participants – increased concentration in children and a big reduction in discipline issues.

At Foodbank we believe that when you give kids breakfast today – you are also giving them choice about their tomorrow.
