For many, it is a shocking reality check to hear that one in every six Australians will need help putting food on the table at some stage throughout the year. TODAY Extra host, David Campbell was one of these people.
After hosting Foodbank NSW & ACT’s CEO Gerry Andersen on the show a couple of weeks ago, David reached out to learn more about the organisation working to combat the food insecurity crisis across Australia, in particular across NSW and ACT.
We were excited to have Dave along to the Distribution Centre in Glendenning and grateful for the opportunity to give Australia a peek into our operations and to hear from the dedicated staff and volunteers who help us help others every single day. Dave was shocked to learn that, of the 2.2 million Australians across the nation who need Foodbank’s help, half are children. As Gerry says, hunger can happen to anyone, and Foodbank gives back control to individuals, parents and families to prepare healthy and nutritious meals for themselves and their kids.
